Under The Helmet (Missy M)

Who are Freedhem riders? We have gone under the helmet of some of our past riders to find out.

Meet Missy. When Missy is not on her gravel bike, she can be found Shredding the Red in Cuyuna, working out, leading others on rides, teaching young girls to MTB with the Little Bellas cycling program, competing in MTB races, helping out at Red Raven bike shop, and so much more. Rumor has it that she doesn’t sleep.

Missy: Hello, I am Missy Meixner I live in Brainerd with my husband Jeff and the ladies (our dogs Kona and Xena)

1. What is your fondest bike related memory?

So many fond memories on a bike it is hard to pick one every ride is a great ride.

2. How or why did you get started in gravel riding?

I bought a gravel bike to “road ride” with friends and then started riding more gravel and fell in love. I love all the sounds and smells of the country roads. All the wildlife and curious cows and horses along the way.

3. Tell us about your most memorable experience riding the Freedhem 76?

My most memorable Freedhem memory was last year. I rode thru more of the sand then I ever had and finished 20 min faster than the previous year.

4. What advice would you give to someone considering entering a gravel race for the 1st time?

My advice to someone that is thinking about doing a gravel race for the first time is smile, sing and eat all the snacks. Just have a great ride and if you can do it with a friend who is willing to go through the lows and highs with you but will always build you back up.

5. Most important question. What is your favorite ride snack?

Favorite ride snack beef sticks, bacon, jerky and you also can’t beat a good old fashioned PBJ.

Registration closes July 3rd Freedhem76.com
